Okay, guys, here's the deal.
For the longest time, I thought I would be going to medical school. My college coursework, as well as most of my time and energy for the past two years, have been geared toward that goal. But recently, my fiancé and I have come to understand that God is placing a lot more emphasis on our upcoming marriage (June 7!), and that medical school is in neither the cards nor His will for our life together.
So, Joel and I are taking a step out in faith. The tentative plan is for us to live here in the States for a couple years, earning money to build a house in Nicaragua. Joel is good at pretty much everything he tries - he's not just a translator, he can do anything he puts his mind to. I, on the other hand, have a degree in biology and zero - that's right, zero - past job experience. (I'm sort of a loser.) So I've been thinking and praying about it, and I've come to the conclusion that my mother has been touting for many years...that I should use my God-given talents to earn money for my future.
In other words,
I want to start taking commissions.
I realize I'm not exactly a popular artist. (Maybe I should draw more fanart?) But I feel that this is where God is leading me, that He has been preparing me for this for some time now. I have always loved drawing for other people, and I'm sort of ashamed of this post because of the many times in the past that I have sworn up and down that I'd never ask for money for my drawings. Call me naive (you wouldn't be wrong), but I guess I never envisioned myself in a position where I would be in earnest need of money. But Joel and I want to buy property and have a house built where we can live and raise a family as we go about our God-driven ministry (whatever it may be), and I want a job in which I can use real skills that I possess, instead of working retail or McDonald's or something (though I certainly might end up doing that, too). I want to do something that I love. I love to draw, and I especially enjoy drawing for others, so I'm hoping this will work.
So, basically, I'm asking my friends to spread the word. What I'm thinking is this:
Sketch / lineart: $5Full-color: $10- Photoshop examples:
one,
two,
three.
- OpenCanvas examples:
one,
two,
three.
I'll draw
whoever - feral creatures, anthropomorphic creatures ("furries"), humans, etc - and
whatever people want, within decency and reason (eg. nothing sexual). If you only have a few bucks to spare you can get a sketch (on real paper or ditigal) or digitally inked lineart, or you could splurge and spend ten bucks for a big pretty color piece. That's right, I'm willing to spend hours on a piece for just ten dollars. I may not be the best, but I do come cheap!
This may be a letdown for some of my friends who have so enjoyed my free-requests-all-the-time thing, and I
am sorry. But I really need this, so I hope you'll understand. Help me out if you get the chance.

My hours have picked up though and I've heard I'm getting a raise. As soon as I'm in a better spot financially, you can bet I'll buy arts from you.
Also: You are waaaaay underselling yourself.
In the meantime I'll do my best to advertise. :3
