Drawn for an art exchange on LiveJournal. I pushed myself for detail in this piece, and I'm very proud of not using any lines -- I painted directly over my sketch! Woot.

Ohhh man her hair looks GORGEOUS! Just enough detail, and not too much. Great volume and shading, too.

I love the little details like the stitching and the shading on the left hand. You have a couple little tangents with the dress and table, making it difficult to decide what the tablet's orientation is to the dress. There's some confusion as well with the hard and soft edges. Try to keep your harder edges for your focal area and allow other areas to be softer. The eye has a hard time deciphering dominance in an image when there are too many things in sharp focus. Our eyes have a tendency to lock in on what is important and let the other things fade into the background.

Good to see your work again and experimenting a bit! I hope everything went well for you this past spring!

Thank you! I was pushing myself for detail without leaning on lines, which is something very new for me.

You're welcome! You should keep pushing it. It's a big leap dropping lines, but it really opens up the possibilities.
